SCFH Training Academy Policies: Pre-Payment, Refunds, Privacy

Call 903-634-7234 if you have any questions.

I limit the size of my classes. The size limit may differ for some classes, depending on previous training.  I don't care if you grew up around guns... I grew up near an airport, but I can fly a plan!!!

Individuals that have completed the NRA Basic Pistol Orientation training will have priority and
may be allowed to attend a class that is already full.  If you have completed the NRA Basics Pistol Orientation through SCFH Training Academy, you will be allowed to attend a class that is already full.

Some individuals taking the CHL training believe that this is where they will learn how to shoot a pistol.   This is not true.  Although a limited amount of time will be allowed for familiarizing you with your firearm, the Concealed Handgun Training is designed for individuals that are already familiar with a firearm (pistol).

Students that take the NRA Basic Pistol class first will be allowed the opportunity to take the CHL Shooting exam during the NRA class and will be exempt from retaking this exam during the CHL class itself.  However, you must complete the CHL training with SCFH Academy within 6 months.

I have arranged for a pre-payment seat guarantee policy. Every effort to make this policy fair to the students will be made, and as simple as possible so that it is easy for me to administer.
Seat guarantee and refund policy:

    * When you sign up online, you will be sent a bill for payment by email.  First come first served.  If you pre-pay by paypal or Credit Card, you are placed on the roster as confirmed, if the class is not already full with confirmed students.   Your fee will be $20 less than the at-the-door cost. If the class is already full with confirmed students, you will get your choice of a full refund or reassignment to another class date. If you have completed the NRA training as listed above, you could be approved even if the class is already full.

    * If you don't pre-pay (non NRA certified), you are placed on the roster as unconfirmed after the confirmed students, in the order you emailed your sign-up request. If you are in a position higher than the class limit, you are on the waiting list. If I have a waiting list, I will close out the roster the day before the class, and notify any applicants who did not make it. The price for the course at the door is $20 higher than the pre-payment price.

    * If you pre-pay (non NRA certified), and there are non-pre-paid seats left on the roster, you will be added as confirmed, and unconfirmed students will be moved up in position. If there are more than the class limit on the roster, the ones higher than the limit will be bumped to the waiting list and notified.

    * If you cancel with 3 or more days notice, you will get a 100% refund. If there is a waiting list, I will move the first person on the waiting list to the available seat.

    * If you cancel with less than three days notice, and I am still able to fill your seat, you will get a 100% refund, otherwise, you will get a refund less a $15 cancellation fee. The cancellation fee may be applied to a future class (2 month limit).

    * If the class is cancelled by me for any reason, every pre-paid student will get a 100% refund. So far, that's never happened, and I hope I never have to cancel a class, but emergencies sometimes happen.

Please note that I generally keep my PayPal account "swept", so in some cases, it may take me up to a week to process a refund. If you paid by check, I will refund by check after your check clears.   There is a $25 fee for any check that does not clear and is returned NSF.
Family Member and Group Discount
Family member and group discounts are only available for pre-paid students. If you enroll pre-paid with another family member (spouse, child, parent, or "significant other"), you will recieve a $5/person "family member" discount. If you have a group of 3 or more people enrolling together (co-workers, friends, etc), you will get the same a $5/person "group discount" (this is not the same as a private class).

*Weather Permitting*

At this time, the SCFH Training Academy's Range is not an indoor range.  This means that the Range can be somewhat messy at times.  Shooting in inclement weather can be challenging. I prefer to continue the range testing regardless of the weather.  If the weather is extremely hot, cold, wet, or dry, Students will be encouraged to bring the appropriate clothing and equipment for the range and the weather.  It is acceptable for a student to defer shooting to a more acceptable weather day.  You may delay shooting up to 3 months if you wish (at no extra cost).   The only time I will defer to a day with better weather is in the event of Lightening, Flooding, or Severe Weather Warnings: Tornados, Flash Floods, and other extreme conditions that are broadcasted by the National Weather Service.   When my indoor range is completed, this will change.

*** Note that I took my original CHL training at an open range when the temperature was only 39 degrees.
